Maybe you never thought of pan-frying your lettuce, but it's not only possible it's also delicious! Try this simple and quick vegetable dish. It only takes 10 minutes, perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Sautéed Lettuce with Smoked Cheese Sauce
Ingredients

Pan-fried Lettuce
2pcs.Little gem lettuce, , butterhead or mini romaine
0.5tsp.Salt
1tsp.Tarragon
2tsp.Lemon juice
30gButter
Smoked Cheese Sauce
50gFresh cheese, , smoked
2tbsp.Heavy cream 38%

Prepare the lettuce
Cut off the base of the stem and remove any unsightly leaves. Cut both heads of lettuce in half lengthways. So you get a total of four halves. Rinse the lettuce thoroughly. Season the cut surface with salt, tarragon and lemon juice.

Cook the lettuce
Add butter to a pan and set the temperature to 135 °C. Let the butter melt. Increase the heat to 150 ºC. Lay the lettuce on the pan, cut side down. Fry for 5 minutes.

Cheese sauce
Add the smoked cheese and heavy cream to a bowl and mix to combine. Arrange the salad on a serving plate with the fried side up. Pour the cheese sauce over and serve.
