Crispy fries made directly from raw potatoes are difficult to make, but it can be done. The secret is the right type of potato (baking potatoes) and a long cooking time at a low temperature. Try this easy recipe for homemade french fries. All you need to do is add the raw potato to the oil and after about 40 minutes, you'll have delicious homemade fries.

French fries

Peel the potatoes. Cut them across the widest part so that you end up with two flat halves. Then cut 1 cm thick wedges to create a rustic french fry shape. Place the potatoes in a pan or pot. Cover them with oil. Preheat to 150 ºC and cook for 40 minutes. Turn the potatoes every now and then. Use a slotted spoon or similar to remove the fries and place them on greaseproof paper. Season with salt and serve.

Tips for this recipe

If you use the 28 cm pan, it can hold 2 baking potatoes in one layer. Turn the potatoes over when you are about halfway through. If you use the pot, there is room for 3-4 baking potatoes, depending on the size of the potatoes. Allow about 1 baked potato per person.
