Caramel corn is sweet, salty, and crunchy—an upgrade from regular popcorn. Freshly popped popcorn is coated in a golden and sweet caramel. This snack is easy to make with ingredients you often have in your cupboard. Perfect for a movie night or when you want to add a little extra fun to your snack game.

Ingredients

1pers

Popcorn

1dlPopcorn kernels
20gButter
1tsp.Salt

Caramel

1dlSugar
0.5dlWater

Instructions

1

Make the popcorn

Refer to the popcorn recipe and follow the instructions provided to prepare your popcorn.

2

Make the caramel

Place a sheet of baking paper on a baking sheet and set it aside for later use. In a large 28 cm pan, combine the sugar and water. Set the pan to 210 ºC. Once the water has evaporated, the sugar will begin to caramelize and turn golden brown. As soon as the caramel reaches a golden hue, add the popcorn to the pan. Stir thoroughly to ensure all the popcorn is coated with caramel. Transfer the caramel-coated popcorn onto the prepared baking sheet lined with baking paper. If necessary, use two forks to separate the popcorn to prevent clumping. Allow the popcorn to cool before serving.

Tips for this recipe

Be careful while stirring the caramel as caramelized sugar can be abrasive on Teflon surfaces. If available, opt for a steel pan instead.
