Beef patty with caramelized onions and gravy is a traditional Danish dish. In this recipe the patties are served on buns, as a sandwich, but you can also serve them with freshly boiled potatoes instead.

Instructions
Prepare the onions
Place a pan on the cooktop and start the program. Heat the pan to 150 °C. Add the butter. Peel the onions and cut them into ½ cm thick slices. Add them to the pan, as they are cut. Cook them for 30 minutes under a lid. Stir regularly.
Shape the beef patties
Divide the meat into 4 portions of 200 g each if you have 800 g of ground beef. Roll them into balls and flatten them. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Make the sauce
Add the heavy cream, fish sauce and soy sauce to the pan with the onions. Simmer for 5 minutes at 100°C. If you only have one pan, pour the sauce into a bowl so you can use the pan to cook the beef patties. Remember to clean the pan before frying the patties.
Fry the patties
Add butter to the frying pan and start the program. Heat the pan to 185°C. Add the patties, they should have 5 minutes in total. Fry them for 1 minute per side and turn them regularly. After 5 minutes, the patties will still be red inside, but will finish cooking as they simmer in the sauce.
Simmer the beef patties in the sauce
Turn the temperature of the pan with the patties down to 110°C and pour the sauce over. Simmer for 5 minutes. In the meantime, prepare the buns and condiments for the sandwiches.
Assemble the sandwiches
Toast the buns or fry them in a little butter. Assemble the beef patty sandwich by layering mustard, beetroot, ketchup, sliced pickles, remoulade, a patty and gravy, more gravy - cover it with gravy! Then chopped raw onions and fried onions.
Tips for this recipe
This recipe deviates from a traditional beef patty sandwich in two things. Firstly, we use English Muffins instead of a regular burger bun. But then, English muffins can be made on Ztove, and you can find the recipe here in the app. Secondly, we only put bread on the bottom of the sandwich. It's a personal preference because it's easier to cut the sandwich without squashing it. However, you can easily use a classic burger bun or brioche bun and use the whole bun.
